Ultimately, we saw lots of great underwater creatures and we enjoyed the experience.
If a person was not comfortable snorkelling in big water, there could have been some issues. In our family, 4 of 5 of us are lifeguards and everyone is very comfortable in the water. on one hand the visibility and overall underwater experience was better than inside the reef but the swell / waves was nasty and most of us got motion sick. Snorkelling inside the reef was fine and the visibility was pretty good. Roy had very effective hand signals that he used to point out key sightings - a great way to keep everyone informed. For us, it was fine as we were comfortable snorkelling but for another couple beside us, they were uncomfortable.
Roy provided some initial briefing but mostly for the Spanish speaking folks so for those not fluent in Spanish, they had to figure it out somewhat on their own. We boated from the wharf to Ensuena (by Otto beach) and had to wait for two other couples which was moderately annoying but once we got going it was fine.
